   Amos,
   Yes, I grew up in Ironton and Ellington and graduated school in Ironton in 71. My family was from Hogan and Glover and now live in Hogan which is halfway between Ironton and Annapolis. I have all kinds of surplus weapons Enfields, Mauser, Mosin, Arisaka and Garand.

   I have 4 mosins, 1 arisaka(sporterized by my dad back in the 50's) 1 SKS,and a 1909 Argentine mauser carbine, along with several modern rifles,pistols and shotguns. I started to restore the Type 99 but never found a worthy stock, I gathered all the metal 1 piece at a time including a bayonet w scabbard but I was going to buy a new stock from Gunparts online and just when I was ready they no longer had any. The shame os it is that my uncle took the rifle out of Japan the day they surrendered. Long story but my dad ended up with it and as was the way back then he " fixed it up" including having it rechambered to shoot 30.06
   i have heard stories that they suffer poor accuracy with .308 diameter bullets but this one sure doesn't. It still has the imperial mark un-ground. i hope we cross paths sometime.
